Fractured photo shoot.

Hi guise!

It has been a while. July is summer holiday season in Finland so not many people were available for photo shoots. Buuuuut it's August now so everyone is back in town. Photographer Pekka and I had been planning this shoot for quite a while. Nicole from our Les Royales and Paris photo shoots was supposed to join us, but she is moving to Brussels next month so she couldn't make it. Pekka had found old abandoned houses in Kruunuvuori and suggested we shoot there. Our theme was a disregarded youth in a disregarded house.

Tiiu is a friend of mine and whilst I was modelling in England she showed interest in modelling too. I have always loved here style and I thought her unique look needed to be captured on film. Since I'm back in Helsinki and have managed to form contacts I thought now was the time to do a shoot with her.
I met Tiiu early to do her makeup and then we headed out to the abandoned houses. First we shot on the ground floor against two windows. The house was pretty much a mess. There were sharts of glass everywhere and lots of stuff the previous owners had left behind. Not to mention there were no doors or glass windows. This was around 6.30pm so the sun was still shinning, but I couldn't help, but get that horror movie vibe. You know that vibe? I kept thinking about stupid white people in horror movies who go in to abandoned houses or manors and get themselves killed by ghosts/monsters/evil spirits O_O that's the vibe I got whilst staying there.

As we moved upstairs we found this a-may-zaah little room with a chair, table and window frame against the wall, and there were feathers everywhere =D Seriously, that room wasn't a real set. I fell in love with that little room because it was like straight out of a fashion magazine. Pekka just had to set the reflector etc and Tiiu was brave to pose on that dirty, damp chair! I chose to use this set in my video because I already knew that I was going to use Kanon Wakeshima's "Still Doll" song. That little room was perfect on its own. I made the video so that there is a short story there and I appear in the video too. I had asked Pekka for a favour to shoot me after Tiiu because I'm rebuilding my modelling portfolio. So my appearance in the video shouldn't be too random xP You haven't seen it yet? Click the link at the end of this post.

Tiiu was modelling for the first time and she did really well. She did a good job conveying sort of a vacant youth in disregarded environment. I have met models in Finland who claim that they have modelled for years, but once they get in front of the camera there's nothing there really. They keep the same position and expression the whole time, sometimes changing the position of their hand. And I sarcastically think "you say you have been a model for years, how come I don't see it?". Take my words here as a constructive criticism. So it was super to see a pure rookie like Tiiu do so well on her very first shoot.

Later we went to shoot in another house that was really coming appart. We climbed on top of this pile of broken stuff to pose. That image above I took with my little camera and I really like it, even if it's not retouched. While we were shooting outside against graffiti stained wall it started raining and we decided to wrap things up. To get there we had to walk across a forest for a while. There even was a lovely pond where we might shoot later =D

All in all, I was very happy with this shoot. I had a great time and the photos turned out great. Below I put links to both mine and Tiiu's makeup looks and the short video. So I was both makeup artist and model in this shoot.
