How did it come to this?

Whaddup!

Some of you are joining me from my Youtube channel, some from Facebook so welcome!

I just started this blog so reviews and behind the sceens stuff are yet to come. So in the mean time I'll tell you how I became a makeup artist.

I have been a makeup artist for six months now, but before that I did the usual stuff, went to college in England, got a BA in Fine Art, came back to Finland and spend a year figuring out what to do next. I love fine art (painting mostly) and I participated in two groups shows, in England and in Finland between 2011-2012.
Basically an artist needs to grow, that's how I feel. And I didn't want to spend the rest of my life waitressing whilst painting on my free time. I figured I need a proper career.

I got into makeups in college and all of the sudden I was looking up tutorials on youtube, serching for a-may-zaah makeup brands, reading reviews and trying out makeups etc. My makeup collection kept growing, which made me very happy =) (I love beautiful things, and makeups are so beautiful!).

Eventually I got the idea to become a makeup artist. I searched for makeup schools in Europe and found really promising schools in Milan, Paris and London. The Milan school turned out to be too expensive, and even though the school in Paris seemed wonderful, I was certain that I wouldn't be able to get a job after graduation because I didn't speak french. In the end I went with Academy of Freelance Makeup because english wouldn't be a problem for me and AOFM has a-may-zaah after care programs and connections!

I applied for their Total Pro Creative Specialist certificate program and in October I got the thumbs up from AOFM

I moved to London right after new year's and started school on the 7th of January 2013.
The first week was all about makeups= foundation, skincare, brows, highlight/contouring/blush, bridal, period, black&white, freestyle, bodypainting, glitter/diamonds, fashion, editorial and catwalk. The course is taught by real, working makeup artists, so we got to learn about the tricks of the trade. We did a shopping day too and received great discounts from several brands.
The third week was hair week and even though it was difficult I still enjoyed learning about hair and hair care. Now I can't get enough of heated rollers!
The fourth and final week was 3 days of nails and 3 days of airbrushing. I LOVE NAIL ART, always have =D I keep my nails long and love decorating them with diamonds and glitter etc. I didn't realize there was so much to nail care. We even learned how to instal gel nails properly.
And air brush was just so much fun! I actually enjoyed air brushing so much that I wouldn't mind working for a tv-channel or in movies as an air brush artist. Our teacher John Woodbridge was so talented and so hilarious!

I graduated on the 2dn of February and I immediately had an interview with a beauty agency. I became one of their makeup artist-beauty consultants. I stayed in London until late March and I had the pleasure to work with NARS, Chanel and my personal favourite, Yves Saint Laurent.

Now in Helsinki I'm working as a freelance makeup artist. I have around 2-3 photoshoots per week. So I'm rather busy. I work with photographers and models and stylists to create awesome images for our portfolios. I have had the pleasure to meet really awesome and talented people.

And just like other makeup artists, I also dream about having my work appear in Italian, Russian and Parisian Vogue

That's about it, my story so far.

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for reviews and behind the sceens footage!
Enjoy the summer, it's gorgeous outside!!
